Walter Edwin 'Ed' Cameron, 76, passed away Saturday Dec. 13, 2014. He was born May 5, 1938 in Phoenix, Oregon, the son of Leo and Hester (Stellwagen) Cameron. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kelli Renee in 1988, 1 sister and 3 brothers. Survivors include his wife, Carol, of the home; daughter Tammy (Jay) McDowell, Kipp, son Rob (Diana) rural Gypsum; granddaughters, Melissa (Travis) Gould, Salina, Whitney (Tim) Blaker, Mountain Grove, Missouri, Cassie (Jamie) Rouse, Newport News, Virginia. Great-grandchildren, Jasper, Jonathan, Jaxson, Joslyn & Jayce. Ed was raised in the Junction City area and moved to Navarre after the 1951 flood. There he met the love of his life, Carol Lake. They married in 1958. He joined the Salina Police Department in 1960 and retired at the rank of Lieutenant after 22 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family, especially his kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Peace Officers Assoc., and Fraternal Order of Eagles, and he coached Police League baseball. He and Carol were Co-leaders of the Central Kansas Chapter of the Compassionate Friends in the 1990's. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 16 from 9:00 am - 8:00 pm at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home with family present from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at First Church of the Nazarene, Salina, Kansas, with Rev. Jon Fillipi officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Cemetery in Niles. The family would like you to dress casual. Memorial contributions may be made to Accessible Home Care or American Cancer Society in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.
