Wayne Thomas Wayne Thomas, 52, of Wichita, departed this life on Monday, February 20th. Wayne was born in Salina, Kansas on September 23, 1959, to Margaret Iola (Nelson) Thomas, of Salina, and the late Johnnie Thomas. He worked as a Sheet Metal Worker at Tennison Brothers Inc. in Wichita and earlier worked for Minor Harris Sanitation Services in Salina. As a young child Wayne gave his life to the Lord at St. John's Baptist Church under the late Rev J.E. Jones. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Baker, of the home, step daughter, Shurond, wife of James Baker, of Wichita; step son, Ernest, husband of Tamika Baker, of Marietta, Georgia; Mother, Margaret (Nelson) Thomas, of Salina, brother, Nelson, husband of Deborah Bell of Las Vegas, Nevada; three sisters, Frankie Thomas, Norma, wife of Steven Wright, Georgaleen Thomas all of Salina; 7 Grandchildren, Keeontay Baker, Kiohana Williams, Makayla Williams, Tyrese Baker, Tyren Baker, Jarie Baker, Malia Baker; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Thomas and sister, Joyce Edwards. Visitation will be Friday, February 24th from 1 pm - 8 pm at Carlson - Geisendorf Funeral Home with family present from 5 pm - 7 pm. Visitation will also be Saturday, February 25th from 9 am until service time at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, Salina. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, Salina, Kansas, at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 25th, with Rev. Allen D. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Missionary Baptist Church 215 S. Chicago Salina, Kansas or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice 313 S. Market, Wichita, Kansas 67202.
