William 'Will' Gavin, Jr., 49, of Salina, passed away Monday, July 22nd, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri. Will was born in Laurel, Mississippi on May 31, 1964, to the late Hilda K. (Barber) and William Henry Gavin. He was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Salina, where he also served on the Steward's board. He was the husband of Patrice (White) Gavin. She survives him. Other survivors include; daughters Maseka Gavin, of Bay Spring, Mississippi, and Jasmine (Chester) Dove, of Stringer, Mississippi; brothers, Samuel (Sarah) Barber, of Memphis Tennessee, Willie Earl Gavin, of Bay Spring, Mississippi, and Gregory Gavin, of Gulfport, Mississippi; and sister, Tessa Gavin, of Gulfport, Mississippi; as well as many grandkids and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, and step mother, Velma Jean Gavin. A funeral service will be held at at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 3rd, with Rev. Viola W. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 2, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with family greeting friends from 6-7. Memorial contributions may be made to defray funeral expenses. They may be sent in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas 67401.
