Mr. Harrison Waldo "Wally" McWhorter, Sr., 65, of Bennington, passed away Saturday, December 11th, 2010 at Hospice of Salina.
Mr. McWhorter was born in Syracuse, N.Y. on April 26, 1945, the son of the late Henry W. and Tessa G. (Gillespie) McWhorter.
Wally graduated high school and attended some college. He married Ilene M. Cheever on November 8, 1965 in Kansas City, MO. Wally served in Vietnam as a member of the U.S. Army and was also a member of the Kansas Army National Guard. He worked for almost thirty years at Hawker Beechcraft as a HVAC technician.
He is survived by his wife; daughter Janetta (Donnie) Buttery of Bennington, KS; sons, Harrison (Michele) McWhorter, Jr. of Salina, , Michael (Maegan) McWhorter, of Anthony TX, and John (Traci) McWhorter of Bennington; as well as 2 brothers, 1 sister, 17 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at the at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 15th, 2010. Cremation has been selected and there will not be any visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made in Wally's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
